If the limiting of server switches has any financial based reasons, then the number should be reset every time you add a new campaign.

Limiting server switches was done to stop people jumping server everytime their current server lost favor.

The 5 switch limit is fine but they need to add a small warning about what happens when you use all your switches.

Actually we don't know that. Server separation and the limited switches were introduced during the last two beta weekends. Intercontinental bandwidth isn't cheap. Even without this stupid favor system they would like the players to stay local.

They added material storage in a kind of way that would equal the disc space used for about one row of normal storage slots. Development decisions are made much more with costs in mind than many would believe.

True but it's the only reasonable explanation. Having unlimited switches would render favor useless..

Personally, I think ANet should limit the frequency of possible server switches to once per week, or something like that, rather than give all accounts a certain X number of server switches. Makes more sense to me; you won't be stuck on a certain server, and you can't constantly switch to and from servers to abuse the favor mechanic.

yah, in WoW I think it costs $15 and has a cooldown period of a month for transfering a character to another account, that might be an idea

the only reason why the server switch exists is for the favor system which was never properly implemented. i remember a dev (i guess it was voxy voo) saying to me that the maps for lyssa, melandru and dwayna "will be there soon" (it was a few days after the release of prophecy).
I think everyone should be in a "common continent" and only use the disctricts in order to choose their language (like the system currently in use in Europe).

Well, Im "stuck" on the US server from the first month after launch (swapping various guilds and stuff). Only now do I really regret being on the US server since my own guild plays on the EU district (its pretty damn annoying when you always have to play on the international servers only to be able to grouping with my guildies).

I myself would be very very happy if I could make only one more switch, its not about the fact that only EU has the favor the last 6 months, but I rather play on my home district again.

And I find it quite reasonable that you get 2 switches (instead of 5) per chapter you've linked, just like you get 2 character slots (instead of 4).

I don't see why you should get any switches, to be honest. As has been previously stated, international districts exist for people who want to mingle with the crowds on the other side of the ocean.

That's just my take, but I don't see any benefit other than people who leave because they want to go where the favor is so they can farm more. Other than that, there really aren't any legitimate reasons to jump back and forth.

/agree .... PvErs have always claimed to be "pros" at PvP, now lets see them prove it imo, but oh wait...if u go to AD1 of heros ascent what do you see?? "Tyrian Pathfinder SF Elementalist LFG!" rofl...i still have 1 server switch left, used others on Xmas so i could get a festival hat 2 hours before anyone else (haha)

~and btw...winning vs a team that has a r9 in it in Random Arenas...doesnt mean your good....b/c your in RA...where that r9 didnt get to choose his team and probably ended up with "nubs"
